NCL’s Norwegian Sky is based year-round in Miami, making trips to the Bahamas twice a week, departing on Fridays (for three nights) and Mondays (for four nights). All Sky cruises include visits to Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau, plus a stop in Freeport on the four day cruises. Norwegian Sky carries up to 2,400 passengers per voyage and accommodations range from the basic “interior staterooms” to the top-of-the-line Owner’s and Penthouse suites. Dining options on Sky are just as varied including two 500+ seat main dining rooms, French cuisine at “Le Bistro”, modern Italian fare at “Il Adagio” and the buffet in the “Garden Cafe”.
Royal Caribbean’s vessel for shorter voyages from Miami is the Majesty of the Seas. Their 3-night voyages leave on Friday and include a stop in Nassau. Four night trips start on Mondays when the itinerary includes Nassau, CocoCay and Key West. It’s also a big one with a capacity of over 2,700 passengers.
It’s unlike that you’ll be bored on “Majesty” (unless that’s your goal). Onboard places to play include two swimming pools, two whirlpools, basketball court, rock climbing wall, jogging track and a video arcade.
