Carnival Cruise Lines’s return to Mobile, Alabama has been big new in the U.S. cruise industry this week. Mobile’s port has been without a cruise ship since Carnival pulled out in 2011. The long dry spell will end in November of 2016, when the Carnival Fantasy is scheduled to return to Mobile for a year’s worth of four and five day cruises from the Alabama port.
In the mean time, the Carnival Fantasy will spend this fall sailing from Charleston, South Carolina, then head to Port of Miami, where the ship will sail three and four night cruises to the Bahamas and Western Caribbean, February – October of 2016.

The Carnival Fantasy is the oldest ship in Carnival’s fleet of cruise ships, launched in 1990 as the first of the Carnival class. The ship received Carnival’s “Evolutions of Fun” upgrade in 2008 and is set to receive another round of upgrades (Fun Ship 2.0) before beginning its stay in Miami. Fun Ship 2.0 renovations include the addition of new dining venues, including Guy’s Burger Joint (a Guy Fieri venture), the BlueIguana Cantina Mexican-themed restaurant, and several new bars and lounges.
