NCL’s New Norwegian Escape Set to Begin Miami Departures Mid-November

EscapeThe latest addition to Norwegian Cruise Lines’ fleet of cruise ships is scheduled to begin sailing from Port of Miami in mid-November, 2015.

Construction of the Norwegian Escape is nearing completion. It was recently “floated out” at the Meyer Werft shipyards in Germany. There’s still some additional work to be done before the new vessel begins sea trials in Europe on September 16th. Continue reading

Norwegian Cruise Line Announces 2016/2017 Itineraries

EscapeIn a press release issued on December 9th, Norwegian Cruise announced their sailing schedules for the 2016/2017 season.  The announcement included new six and eight day cruises from Miami aboard the Norwegian Escape, in addition to the Escape’s regular seven day Eastern Caribbean itineraries.  Continue reading

Miami’s Iconic Tobacco Road Bar Finds a New Home With NCL

Tobacco_Road wikipediaThe Tobacco Road bar, which has been in operation in the city of Miami since 1912, recently closed. The building that housed the bar for over a hundred years is scheduled to be demolished to make way for a new mixed-use development.

The bar, or at least it’s memory, will live on aboard Norwegian Cruise Line’s new Norwegian Escape cruise ship, which will begin sailing from Miami in fall of 2015. The new on-ship bar will incorporate elements of the original establishment, including the neon sign and memorabilia and photographs showcasing the bar’s history.

There’s also rumors that the bar will re-open in Miami, near it’s previous location.
