The folks at Celebrity Cruises have learned that a lot of their guests enjoy wine, so they recently announced some enhancements to the wine offerings on their cruise ships. The changes mean more wines to consider on your cruise and more ways to enjoy them.
Each Celebrity ship now has 100 more wines by the bottle, including 20 new wines available by the half-bottle. This brings the total number of wines to over 500 on Solstice Class ships and to over 300 on Millennium Class ships. In addition to the increase in quantity, they’ve also expanded the variety by geography. There are still many choices to be made from the wines of France, Italy and California, but there are now more than ever from the wineries of South America, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, Portugal and South Africa.
The “Reserve List” of top-quality wines, formerly only available in the on-board specialty restaurants, are now offered in each ship’s main restaurants. And if you’re just looking to try a glass of something new, the number of wines available by the glass has been increased from 25 to 38 in bars, lounges and restaurants.
Solstice Class ships, featuring the 500+ varieties of win, sailing from Miami include Celebrity Eclipse and Celebrity Reflection. Eclipse currently makes 7-night voyages to the eastern Caribbean. Eclipse will be moving to Fort Lauderdale for the 2012-2013 season and will be replaced by the new Celebrity Reflection. Reflection will have all the latest amenities for cruisers and will make the 7-night trips currently offered on Eclipse.
The Millennium Class ships sailing from Miami are the original Celebrity Millennium and Celebrity Constellation. Millennium will be given some major upgrades after the current season and will then be moving to Asia. It will be replaced in Miami by Constellation for 4- and 5-night western Caribbean cruises. Millennium and Constellation both carry over 300 varieties of wine.
