fathom lockup horizontal outline blueAlthough plans are still in the works, and approval from the Cuban government has not yet been received, the folks at “Fathom,” Carnival Cruise Lines’ new volunteerism-based cruise line, are starting to release some of the details about future sailings from Miami to Cuba.

According to a Cruise Critic report, the cruises to Cuba will focus on Havana, Cienfuegos, and Santiago de Cuba, and “cultural immersion” will be the focus.  Activities in Cuba centered around art and film, rather than the volunteer-oriented activities that are the focus of Fathom’s cruises to the Dominican Republic.

Fathom will operate the 700 passenger Adonia out of the Port of Miami beginning May 1, 2016, with iteniaries alternating between Cuba and the Dominican Republic.  The Adonia currently sails are part of the P&O fleet of ships. P&O is a British/American cruise line owned by Carnival Corporation. Under P&O, the Adonia sailed Mediterranean and European itineraries.
