Fathom Cruises, the Carnival subsidiary focusing on small-ship social impact cruises to Cuba and the Dominican Republic, has made some changes to their cruise itineraries.
Fathom previously offered itineraries to either the Dominican Republic or Cuba, but now these two destinations have been combined for some cruises.
Seven-day “Caribbean Cruises” cruises will stop in Santiago de Cuba before continuing to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. The cruises include a full day in Cuba, where passengers will have an opportunity to interact with locals in people-to-people activities arranged by the cruise line (a requirement for American travel to Cuba). Time in the Dominican Republic includes cultural immersion activities and an opportunity to help with “impact” activities such as planting trees.
Fathom will cease cruise operations in June of this year.
